Current 62K and running strong.ĮDIT: Have them do the knock sensor campaign, and then put in another claim for the engine replacement. If we can, I'll run the Kia so far into the ground and hope to have so many engine replacements Kia Corp will wish they had bought us out. On the flip side, we've undercoated since new, and we now have an engine block that has a lifetime warranty. Had a 10 year old Soul for an entire winter while we waited for Kia Corporate to APPROVE the repair. We now joke that we wish our Kia dealer could transport it's staff into another dealership hahaĢ018 Sportage AWD, 28,000kms engine failure. We loved our Kia dealer here, but we hate Kia. Then the dealer looks bad, Kia looks bad, and it's just a shit show. When that happens, you're just a number and Kia washes its hands of the issue and leaves all the kick back to the dealer. You can have an exceptional Dealer, but when push comes to shove and the Corporate entity gets involved the only thing that matters is the bottom line.
#KIA OPTIMA ECU FLASHING UPDATE#
AND, all the software update does is warn the engines about to die. I don't understand how that clears Kia if a person never knew about the software recall. That's what I think Kia Corporate is starting to do. "The warranty extension may be denied for “Exceptional Neglect” of the vehicle, which means (a) when the vehicle clearly evidences a lack of maintenance or care for a significant period of time of not less than one (1) year, such that the vehicle appears dilapidated, abandoned, and/or beyond repair unless such lack of maintenance was due to a Loss Event, as defined in the Settlement Agreement or (b) where a Class member has failed to have the KSDS (“Knock Sensor Detection Software”) installed in the vehicle pursuant to the KSDS Product Improvement Campaign by a Kia dealer." The recall is a software update that has something to do with the knock sensor. Just a heads up to anyone who has or knows people who have the cars listed in Warranty company might even go back to Kia corporate to take responsibility. Luckily the car is still under CPO as well as extended warranty so repair claim being filed.

The engine had a factory defect regardless if the knock sensor recall let us know before the engine took a poop.Īnyway, Service manager said Kia is recently pulling this excuse to get out of replacing engines. Maybe they sent the recall/class action notices to original owner. We didn't know about the recall or get notices. Kia corporate denied the engine replacement due to the fact the knock sensor recall wasn't done. They went thru the testing and communication of failure with Kia corporate. So my daughter's Sportage died because of the confirmed by the Kia dealership service manager. Did not know about the knock sensor/ECU recall until the engine went kaput. 2015 Kia Sportage with the 2.4 Theta engine.
